India’s interest to make green the growth story of future is clear. Indian industry has made important progress on energy and emission reduction in the past, primarily through energy efficiency of key industrial processes. This has helped industry maintain competitiveness and reduce emissions. However to meet stricter emission targets, more fundamental changes will be required to reduce emissions until 2050 and beyond. The Industry Transitions track aims to foster collaboration across industry verticals for a low emission industrial development in the long term, in a sustainable and cost-effective manner. The articulate address of Mr Mahendra Singhi, CEO & MD of Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd and Co-Chair of TERI CBS Executive Committee at United Nations Secretary General’s Climate Action Summit echoes the support from Indian business community. The business case for energy transition in Indian industries as aptly discussed at a TERI CBS webinar.
Through our Future Unfolded series, we bring you short videos that address diverse issues – ranging from low carbon pathways to circular economy – in the context of sustainable development and business. It showcases ideas and insights of thought leaders, academics and contemporary industry champions. We hope these would become useful resources for you all to strengthen the narrative for urgent business action.
Our Council for Business Sustainability serves as the interface for our research work to be connected to the corporate world and enables two-way engagement. TERI CBS engages with the core issue of what businesses must do to shape and lead in sustainability. Activities of the Council are governed by an Executive Committee - comprising CEOs from amongst the member companies. To access the array of recorded webinar sessions, articles, blogs, and half-yearly report on our activities in FY 19-20, please visit our website http://cbs.teriin.org/
We hope that the newsletter provides a good and insightful reading for you. And we look forward to your suggestions and opinions. .
