ECO-NIWAS SAMHITA DESIGN AIDER  
 
Eco-Niwas Samhita Design Aider tool is a unique, user-friendly, design-Based tool developed under the research project "Mahindra-TERI Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Habitats," a joint research initiative of Mahindra Lifespaces and TERI. This tool facilitates the user to devise the different configurations of materials & assemblies and select the optimized solution to meet the compliance for VLT, WFRop, Uroof, and RETV for affordable housing at the preliminary/pre-construction design phase. The tool has been pilot tested and validated for various real-time projects in-line with the Eco-Niwas Samhita 2018 benchmarks. The tool uses the database of materials tested at CoE for its thermal properties and enables the designer's appropriate selection of building materials.
 
 
  SUPPORTING PUBLIC POLICY COHERENCE
 

TERI and ECBC Cell Ladakh had conducted a three-day online training programme on the Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) & the Eco-Niwas Samhita (ENS) for building sector stakeholders, e.g., administrators, government officials, architects, engineers, developers, builders, municipal officials, etc. from 11th-13th January 2022 in association with Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and PDD-Ladakh. During the training programme 35 participants were trained from various organizations.

In continuation, a one-day online workshop-cum-training programme on HVAC Design Awareness was organized on 29th January 2022. The training program was attended by 36 participants from various organizations such as Municipal Committee Kargil, SVD, Public Health Department Kargil, I&FC Division Kargil, Kargil Development Authority, KREDA, and Rural Development Department Kargil.

 
 
 
 
  LAUNCH EVENT AND PANEL DISCUSSION-
GUIDELINES ON WATER EFFICIENT MEASURES FOR RESIDENTIAL TOWNSHIPS
 
 
Mahindra Lifespaces (MLDL) and Sustainable Habitat Program, TERI jointly released the ‘Guidelines on Water Efficient Measures for Residential Townships’ on the occasion of ‘World Water Day’. A webinar was organised for the launch of the guidelines in order to share its findings and sensitize stakeholders on water conservation and its management. The event brought together stakeholders from various domains such as real estate developers, green building rating bodies, engineers etc., to discuss the challenges and opportunities on water sustainability in residential townships.

  WATER POSITIVE CERTIFICATION- CONSULTING, AUDIT AND CERTIFICATION SERVICES
 
Considering the urgent need for action against the looming water crisis in India, TERI is glad to announce its services for conducting the water audit to quantify the impact of water efficient solutions adopted and implemented by the project/organization to reduce the water footprint and also provide technical assistance for enhancing water efficiency of the projects in order to achieve the 'GRIHA Water Positive Certification'.

‘Water Positive’ Certificate from TERI for Nelamangala Unit of ABB India

ABB, a technology company that works with utility, industry, transportation and infrastructure customers in India, said its Nelamangala unit has received a ‘Water Positive’ certification from The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).

To reduce consumption of water, ABB India installed water-efficient fixtures, restricted the use of turf in the landscape area, and planted drought-tolerant plants in 81% of the landscape area. The unit has provision of rainwater tanks for rooftop runoff along with TERI-approved filtration to get water tailored for a variety of end-uses.
 
World Water Day: Guidebook released to help townships move towards net water positive goal

Sustainable water use in habitats is one of the key areas of research of the Mahindra-TERI CoE, which aims to develop science-based solutions for India’s built environment. The guidelines can play a pivotal role in aiding townships to move on the path of becoming net water positive, said a statement.

Nothing that is crucial to spread awareness, so that residences adopt sustainable practices to replenish and conserve water, Seth added, ‘’these guidelines are the outcome of the research study and water audits conducted by TERI under the Mahindra-TERI collaboration. Besides generating awareness on the aspects of water conservation and sustainable management, it also provides innovative and simple solutions to overcome the water related challenges faced in the townships.’
