STAKEHOLDER WORKSHOP ON ‘MAXIMIZING THE BENEFITS FOR CLIMATE FRIENDLY COOLING THROUGH SUCCESSFUL IMPLEMENTATION OF THE KIGALI AMENDMENT’
TERI organised a high-level brainstorming session on 4th August, 2022 at Hotel Claridges to talk about maximising the advantages of climate-friendly cooling through the successful implementation of the Kigali Amendment under the initiative SHEETAL-Alliance for Sustainable Habitat, Energy Efficiency and Thermal Comfort for All and in partnership with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). Three main topics were discussed: India's future to phase out HFCs, the sustainable adoption of low GWP refrigerants in the country's cooling industry, the importance of best-in-class appliance energy efficiency standards, and the effective implementation of building energy codes in India's efforts to meet the Kigali Amendments 0.5 °C goal and ICAP targets.

INAUGURATION OF ‘MODEL DEMO HABITAT’ AT TERI GRAM, GWAL PAHADI, GURUGRAM |
TERI inaugurated a ‘Model Demo habitat’ on 13th July, 2022 developed under the “Habitat Model for Efficiency and Comfort” project sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), GoI. The project consists of two tasks, wherein the first task aims at providing the Indian building market with cost-effective movable and smart external shading products, reducing direct solar heat gain inside a building by more than 75% while allowing natural daylight. The second task is aimed at designing and demonstrating the potential of low-energy radiant slab cooling, integrated with natural heat sinks, and establishing their operational mechanism for optimum comfort and energy efficiency.

THE WATER (WATER AVAILABILITY AND TREATMENT FOR EFFICIENT REUSE) CALCULATOR |
The WATER Calculator is a decision support tool that can be used by home owners, businesses, and infrastructure developers to assess the water efficiency and savings in their upcoming residential projects. The calculator assists in determining the project's water demand and potential for achieving the water savings and to carries out sustainable management on site.
The Rainwater Harvesting Potential Calculator and Stormwater Management Design Evaluator help the user to estimate the amount of rainfall that can be harvested for reuse and groundwater recharge in various cities across India. It enables the user to design the capacity of the rainwater storage tank and the potential for a reduction in fresh water demand. The calculator also helps to check the design for groundwater recharge structures.

TRAINING WORKSHOP ON WATER POSITIVITY IN BUILDINGS BY TERI EXPERT |
TERI participated in the 2-day certificate course on water management organised by GRIHA Council, in collaboration with Planning Insights. An expert from TERI conducted the session on water positivity in buildings, which was held on 27th August, which was attended by several participants from various domains, such as students, green building professionals, etc.
Considering the urgent need for action against the looming water crisis in India, TERI has started its services for conducting a water audit to quantify the impact of water efficient solutions adopted and implemented by the project/organization to reduce the water footprint and provide technical assistance for enhancing the water efficiency of the projects in order to achieve the 'GRIHA Water Positive Certification'.
