As TERI enters its 50th year, it marked a significant milestone in celebrating its extensive and prominent legacy as a think tank involved in sustainable development, energy, and climate change. On June 23, ambassadors, partners, esteemed dignitaries, Governing Council members, and colleagues convened to celebrate TERI’s exhaustive work and contribution towards mainstreaming sustainable development and climate action in India’s developmental pathways.

Life Global Call for Ideas and Papers awards


TERI is proud to share that colleagues from our Water Resources Division have been felicitated with the 'LiFE Global Call for Ideas and Papers (GCIP) awards'. The proposal of Water Resouces Division of TERI titled 'Promoting Water Conservation in Restaurants: Blue Star Rating' was as evaluated as one of the best five proposals received under GCIP. They were facilitated with the ‘Life Global Call for Ideas and Papers awards’ by Honorable Union Cabinet Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change; and Labour & Employment, Shri Bhupender Yadav.

Puducherry Green Budget Report 2023-24


A report titled 'Puducherry Green Budget Report’ jointly prepared by TERI and the Government of Puducherry was released by the Government of Puducherry at Kamban Kalaiyarangam on World Environment Day in the presence of Mr N Rangaswamy, Chief Minister, Puducherry.

Project Ocean Matters: Safeguarding our Oceans


After the successful completion of Phase I, Phase II of ‘Project Ocean Matters’ was launched in commemoration of World Ocean Day at the American Centre, Chennai.

The project is a partnership with the US Consulate General, Chennai to create awareness and education programs that will train and mentor schools to collect, record and analyze environmental data related to climate change and marine pollution.

Dr Suneel Pandey, Director, TERI, was featured on Sansad TV’s Nature Connection- प्लास्टिक से सावधान program where he discussed the impacts of plastic pollution and the need for strengthening the collection system to avoid leakages into the environment.

Plastic bans created awareness, but stricter enforcement needed

"While many single use plastics items were included in the phase-out list, multilayered plastics (MLPs) were kept out of it as there is no viable way to recycle them," stated Dr Suneel Pandey, Director, TERI, in the Times of India article.

TERI collaborated with The Climate Pledge for screening of ‘Future Forward’ documentary series followed by a panel discussion on ‘Collaborating on Sustainable Future: Role of Business to Create a Net-Zero Future’. The discussion explored the importance of collaboration of corporate, government, not-for-profit organizations, and academia.
