Shading design/louver design by using Handbook on Functional Requirements of Buildings
(other than industrial buildings) (SP41), part 4, table 9 and 10
The SP41 has established a method to calculate the appropriate dimensions for horizontal louver,
and vertical louver or egg-crate louvers.
The optimum required dimensions for various shading devices, for different façades are
mentioned in tables 9 and 10 of SP41 for both the regions of the country (northern—north of
latitude 20º N and southern—south of latitude 20º N). Recommendations for the optimum design
are also provided in the last column of the tables, together with their expected performance.
