4. Room characteristics
For efficient design of artificial lighting, room dimensions as well as colours or reflectance of
internal finish of the room have to be defined. The reflectance of floor, wall, and ceiling have been
standardized in GRIHA, as per SP41 (Handbook on Functional Requirements of Building [other than
industrial building]) and are shown in table 4.
