Building and system design optimization 75

Two mandatory points can be awarded if the building EPI meets the EPI benchmark set under
GRIHA for the specific building category and the thermal comfort conditions are fully met as well.
Step 4: Compare the EPI of the inal proposed case with the benchmarked
EPI and check how many additional points the project can fetch

Two mandatory points are awarded when the building EPI meets the EPI benchmark stipulated by
GRIHA. Every 10% further reduction in EPI, for respective cases, shall fetch two additional points, to
a maximum of eight points.
Reduction in energy consumption >10% and <20% of the benchmarked figure will fetch 2 points.
Reduction in energy consumption > 20% and <30% of the benchmarked figure will fetch 4 points.
Reduction in energy consumption >30% and <40% of the benchmarked figure will fetch 6 points.
Reduction in energy consumption >40% of the benchmarked figure will fetch 8 points.
A maximum of 16 points can be achieved in this Criterion.

Guide to use GRIHA online evaluation tool

This is a partly mandatory Criterion. In the ‘Goals’ section, the first two boxes show the mandatory
compliances. By meeting the requirements of the mandatory compliances, eight points can
be achieved. In the third part of the ‘Goals’ section, click on the relevant box depending on the
percentage by which the EPI of the proposed building is reduced as compared to the benchmarked
EPI. In the snapshot shown here, all 16 points have been attempted.

For compliance 14.2.1, required documents can be uploaded using the online evaluation tool as
shown in the snapshot.
