Parched India needs to produce water neutral thermal electricity
 
With a total installed capacity of 226 GW, two thirds of electricity produced in India comes from thermal power plants. These plants consume about 14 to 16 million cubic metres of water per day. About half of thermal power plants lie in already water-stressed river basins. TERI assessed five thermal power plants to identify their water saving potential. Transition to e-vehicles may take longer than 2030: TERI chief
India has a target of a complete switch to electric vehicles (EVs) by 2030. However, Dr Ajay Mathur, DG, TERI, said this is difficult as key factors like consumer acceptability and desirability need to be addressed.
