We hope that this edition of our newsletter finds you well. With the high of COP26 now in a simmer, understanding the implications to the outcomes of the conference is imperative, as we aim to keep the global average temperature rise below 1.5°C. With this in mind, we are delighted to share with you TERI’s COP26 Notebook -- an ongoing effort to analyse the outcomes of COP26 with respect to India and the global community.
In this edition of the Newsletter, we bring to you our latest report that identifies strategies to address reliable and affordable power supply to the people of Goa, the COP26 Charter of Actions document launched in the UNFCCC’s official side event, the 19th World Wind Energy Conference, launch of Guidebooks & Toolkits developed under the Mahindra-TERI Centre of Excellence (CoE) Programme, and the website and knowledge document launch of Project Urban Living Labs.

The COP26 Notebook is TERI’s ongoing effort to analyse the outcomes of COP26 with respect to India and the global community. It has distinguished fellows, senior researchers, and TERI colleagues deliberating on the announcements made by Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi at COP26, the "Glasgow Climate Pact", and its implications on the fight against climate change.

19th World Wind Energy Conference |
|

|
|
The three-day World Wind Energy Conference on ‘Powering the World with Wind and Sun’ organized by TERI and the World Wind Energy Association in New Delhi brought together stakeholders from over 30 countries to strategise on ways to tap the potential of wind and solar energies and make the transition to renewables. Mr Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, stressed the government is on mission mode to decarbonise the transport sector. Norwegian Ambassador to India, Mr Hans Jacob Frydenlund inaugurated the conference.

Strategies for Greening the Sector and Improving the Reliability of Power Supply |
|
|
|
|
In a bid to identify and address the challenges faced while ensuring 24x7 reliable and affordable power supply to the people of Goa, TERI recently conducted a detailed study to identify strategies such as up-gradation & augmentation of transmission and distribution network, and more for ‘Greening the Sector and Improving the Reliability of Power Supply’.

The Project Urban Living Lab
|
|
|
|
|
The website and knowledge products of India’s first urban living lab - The Project Urban Living Lab, Panaji (PULL) – were made available to the public by Mr Durga Shanker Mishra, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, and Mr Freddy Svane, Ambassador of Denmark to India. PULL has been set up under a Memorandum of Understanding between the Royal Danish Embassy in India and Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited.

Launch of the COP26 Charter of Actions Document
|
|
|
|
|
The COP26 Charter of Actions was launched at an official UNFCCC side event by TERI in Glasgow on November 6. The charter, prepared by TERI, highlights key themes and sectors at the national and global level that will enable the development of climate sensitive policy decisions, meaningful climate action, and charting an equitable and sustainable future.

Mahindra-TERI Centre of Excellence’s Guidebook and Toolkit Launch Event
|
|
|
|
|
TERI in collaboration with Mahindra Lifespaces published key findings from five years of research by the Mahindra-TERI Centre of Excellence on resource-efficient buildings, materials and technologies tailored to Indian climates and conditions. The launch of guidebooks and toolkits aims to drive wider adoption of resource-efficient practices in India's real estate and construction industry.

TERI wins the Pathfinder Award
|
|
|
|
|
TERI's conservation efforts in Nagaland have been recognised with the prestigious Pathfinder Award for innovation in nature conservation. The awards, organised by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is a recognition of the institute's work on 'Strengthening Community Conservation in a Biodiversity Hotspot'. The work was chosen from over 400 nominations across four categories and the award ceremony was held online on November 15.
