Calculation of energy saved by proposed renewable energy based hot water system
Based on the design of the renewable hot water system, calculate the annual energy saved by
the proposed renewable energy system. One, two or three points will be gained if the annual
energy saved by the proposed renewable energy system is 20%–50%, 50%–70% or more than 70%
respectively of the annual energy required for water heating to meet the hot water requirements of
the occupants of the building.
For a given project, if the total energy required for heating 50 000 litre of water is 742.64 MWh
and the renewable energy generated by the designed system is 608.55 MWh, the annual energy
saved by the proposed renewable energy system will be 82% of the annual energy required for
