Table 14.5 Calculation of EPI for mixed-use building (both AC and non-AC)
Annual energy consumption data for the building
Type of space Area (m ) Energy performance (kWh/m /year)
2
2
Air-conditioned A1 E1
Non-air-conditioned* A2 E2
Total energy consumption (kWh/m /year) = (E1 × A1) + (E2 × A2) / A1+A2
2
* Non-air-conditioned includes both living and non-living space. However, the difference is that there is no requirement of thermal comfort analysis
for non-living spaces.
Benchmark calculation for mixed-use building (both AC and non-AC)
For composite climate and a daytime-occupied building (5 days a week), the benchmark EPI is 140 KWh/m /year for air-
2
conditioned area (A1) and 25 KWh/m /year for non-air conditioned area (A2).
2
Therefore, the benchmark of the building is calculated as follows.
Benchmark energy performance (kWh/m /year) = [(140 × A1) + (25 × A2)] / (A1+ A2)
2
14.1.8 for ePi calculation, energy systems which use fuels other than electricity, the predicted
annual fuel consumption value should be converted to kwh using the conversion factor
specified in table 14.6.

14.2 Compliance
the following documents need to be submitted.
14.2.1 a narrative and drawings from the architect/services consultant along with manufacture
cut sheets, describing compliance of the building with the mandatory provisions
(criteria 4.2, 5.2, 6.2, 7.2, and 8.2) of the eCbC-2007 of the bee, government of india.
14.2.2 annual energy performance of the buildings and the unmet comfort conditions for
non-airconditioned areas as per format specified in tables 14.7 and 14.8, supported by
the simulation results from the software used.
