Evaluation procedure 89

3. Check the characteristics of the treated wastewater if it is the prescribed format and review
it in light of the intended reuse/disposal application.
4. Check the proposed treated wastewater quality frequency plan.
5. Carefully review whether the proposed sludge management/disposal strategies are
environment friendly.
Possible errors

1. quantum of raw wastewater going into the treatment plant is given. however, the potential
quantum of water coming out of the treatment plant (treated wastewater quantity) may
not be given.
2. Characteristics of the expected wastewater and treated wastewater as given by the supplier
may not be provided.
3. the proposed application for reuse of recycled water and/or disposal may not be given.
4. the characteristics of treated effluent may not match with the proposed application
standards requirement, such as irrigation, disposal into sewers, and so on.
5. in case, the proposed recycled wastewater has to be reused for cooling towers, tertiary
treatment may be missing.
6. requisite details on the ‘dead biomass’ and ‘digested sludge’ and proposed disposal /reuse
strategies may be missing.

Point allocation
two points should be awarded if all the required documentation (compliance) is complete and the
treated wastewater quality is within the permissible limits (iS 2490, iS 3306, and iS 3307). for cooling
tower water reuse application and toilet flushing, appropriate quality must be ensured.
