For compliance 18.2.1, connected loads for internal lighting and space-conditioning should be
listed in the given calculation sheet. Once the user feeds in the required information about the
connected loads for internal lighting and space-conditioning, the calculation form automatically
calculates the rated capacity of proposed renewable energy system to meet the mandatory
requirement of Criterion 18. The space-conditioning load that is filled in the template should be the
total load including ancillaries such as fans, pumps, cooling towers, and so on. Below is a snapshot
of a sample calculation form with all the required information filled in.
In the example given above, the total connected load for internal lighting and space-conditioning
is 1827.14 kW. Hence, the minimum size of the proposed renewable energy system should be
18.27 kWp (1% of the total connected load for internal lighting and space-conditioning), to meet
the mandatory requirement of GRIHA Criterion 18.
For compliance 18.2.2, details of the internal lighting and their usage pattern should be filled in
the given template. The estimated energy generation from the renewables should also be filled in
the template. The embedded calculator will calculate the total energy requirement of the internal
lighting and also the energy generated from the renewable energy system as a percentage of the
total internal lighting requirement. Below is a snapshot of a sample calculation form where the
energy generated from renewables is 14.6% of the total internal lighting requirement.
