Example of estimating annual energy generation capacity of a renewable
energy system using computer software
For the project, the connected load of HVAC and internal lighting is 4500 kW and the project is
aiming at achieving only the mandatory point in Criterion 18 by installing a grid-connected PV
system.
1% of 4500 kW = 45 kW
So, the capacity of PV system should be 45 kWp.
Figure 6 shows a snapshot of the software that is used to predict the annual energy generation
by the installed PV system.
As seen in the snapshot, the software calculates the annual renewable energy generated by this

PV system as 73 959 kWh and PV array area as 314.7 m .
