5. Solar paths/ Month lines - curved lines running from east to west (the upper and lower
curves being for summer and winter solstices; and the other curves are for two dates when
the declination angle of the sun is the same).
6. Hour lines - The month lines are crossed by hour lines (which refer to solar time)
The intersection of the solar path for any date with any hour line represents the altitude and azimuth
angle of the sun on that date and hour. Hence, the sun’s position in the sky hemisphere can be
specified by two angles: solar azimuth angle (Az) and solar altitude angle (As).
