Step-2: Solar exposure analysis
As the building block is square, ideally, the façades with more openings and more functional areas
should orient towards north-south. Hence, the proposed orientation is optimum and there is no
requirement for re-orientation.
Detailed study of the daily and annual solar exposure and solar access analysis indicates that
apart from the horizontal surface, the western façade gets maximum solar radiation followed by
south and east. But, more number of openings and functional spaces have been provided on the
southern façade. Therefore, the shading requirement is maximum on southern façade, followed by
eastern and western.
