b. Shading analysis for eastern façade
Here, the critical sun angle is the vertical shadow angle (VSA) of 45º on a vertical plane normal to
the elevation. This characterizes a horizontal shading device of 1500 mm (minimum), which can be
further modified into two parts of 900 mm horizontal louver with arch-shaped drop of 600 mm on
sides to 300 mm at centre (retaining the shape of the proposed shading pattern by the architect).
