Evaluation procedure
Appraisal 29.3.1
the outdoor noise levels are within the acceptable limits as set in the CPCb-environmental Standards-
noise (ambient standards) as per clauses 29.2.1 and 29.2.2 (1 point).
Required documentation
1. a report with the measured ambient noise levels on site at different locations around
the building/s. this sound audit should be conducted by a competent authority and the
measurements should be carried over a certain period of time including measurements
after the project completion.
2. a building plan should be submitted which clearly demarcates the various sound reduction
measures taken for outdoor noise reduction.
3. manufacturer brochures/product specification sheets should be submitted specifying the
sound reduction properties of the materials used on site, if any.
4. boq demonstrating the purchase of the relevant materials.
Review checklist
1. Check that the sound audit is done over a certain period of time and the sound levels are
measured at multiple locations on each side of the building.
2. Check that the sound levels are also measured after the construction equipment has been
removed from site.
3. Check the sound reduction properties of the materials used for outdoor noise reduction.
4. Check that the noise reduction strategies adopted are relevant and are correctly located on
site with respect to noise sources.
Possible errors
1. outdoor noise levels might not be measured at regular intervals during the proposed
working/ occupancy hours.
2. the brochures for materials used might not have the relevant properties mentioned for
sound reduction.
3. there might be a mismatch between the boq and the manufacturer brochures.
Point Allocation
1 point to be awarded to the project in case the outdoor noise levels comply with the noise
thresholds specified by the CPCb.
Appraisal 29.3.2
the indoor noise levels are within the acceptable limits as set in nbC 2005 (biS 2005a), as per clauses
29.2.3- 29.2.5 (1 point).
Required Documentation
1. a report with the measured ambient noise levels inside the building in different rooms.
this sound audit should be conducted by a competent authority and the measurements
should be carried over a certain period of time including measurements after the project
completion.
